Bill joined the Series as newsletter editor in 2014 and has been a series member beginning in 1996. In 2016 he took over the role as a social media guru taking care of our Facebook page. He believes the Series can play an important and prominent role in promoting the sport of ultrarunning in Southern California.

Bill began his life-long love affair with running in 1982 and ran his first ultra, the JFK 50 Miler, in November 1987. Over the past 20 years, he's completed 100 ultramarathon races including 10 straight finishes of the Angeles Crest 100 Miler.

He continues to preach the value of patience, preparation, and perseverance in achieving ultra running success. There's a bit of runner in each one of us awaiting to be discovered!

Treasurer

Fred joined the series in the fall of 2001 at the age of 62 and after having subscribed the Ultra Running Magazine for 8 years. He took over the job as statistician of the Series in 2002 which was under the leadership of Kathy Harshburger. First Ultra was the High Desert 50K in 2001 with Avalon 50 mile a month later. From Avalon he learned that it is not a good idea not to sprint the last four miles of a 50 mile race no matter how much you like down hills.

For the next decade he would compete in several Adventure Races and triathlons plus over a hundred Ultras including Western, AC and Badwater.

Currently Fred is Co-RD of the Chino Hills Trail Series which includes the Chino Hills 50K.

He is not running as many races as in the past but helps his fellow ultra runners by volunteering at other races.
